A fraternity of distinction, faith, and service — founded under the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria in 2009.

The Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria consists of members who have been honoured by the Vatican in one of the Pontifical Orders or with a Medal. When such an honour is bestowed, the recipient is warmly invited to become a member of the Association.
The Pontifical Orders and Medals represent one of the highest and most prestigious distinctions which the Pope — who is not only Supreme Pontiff and Head of the Roman Catholic Church, but also "Sovereign Prince" (Fons Honorum) of the Vatican City State — can bestow on an individual.
Such awards are made to lay people, individually, both male and female, mainly of the Roman Catholic faith but also to those of other Christian denominations and, indeed, other faiths — in recognition of pre-eminent service to their faith, community, or the work of the Holy See.
The first Papal Knight in Nigeria was invested in Onitsha — the seed of what would become APKMN.
The Association took root by decree of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria and was approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Rt Hon Chevalier Patrick Ikemefuna elected President, leading the Association's growth across the country.
Rt Hon Dame Esther Uduehi, KSG, PhD elected National President, ushering in a new chapter for APKMN.
The Association continues to grow — 350+ members across 9 Provinces, raising ₦200M for Dioceses in 2022 alone.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
To unite all Papal honourees in Nigeria into a cohesive fraternity that serves the Church and humanity through collective action at Diocesan, Provincial, and National levels.
Members are encouraged not to see their Awards as an end in itself, but as a call to greater service to the Church and humanity.
A Nigeria where every Papal honouree lives their honour as witness — strengthened by peer fellowship, animated by faith, and active in works of charity and evangelisation.
To be the leading Catholic lay honour society in Nigeria, recognised for integrity, service, and unwavering loyalty to the Holy See.
Faith. Anchored in the Magisterium and the sacramental life of the Church.
Service. Honour expressed through action, charity, and pastoral support.
Fraternity. A peer community supporting one another in Catholic life and virtue.
